Military Inspired

Military Inspired

Lately I’ve loved the military inspired trend. I purchased a military jacket with leather sleeves and it has quickly become a fashion staple in my closet. I pair my favorite jacket with black pants, bright pants or neutral, and a leather skirt for a little edge.  This look works well with floral prints as well and be used and reused throughout upcoming seasons.

Holiday Gift Guide

Holiday Gift Guide

Finding the right gift for family, significant others, and friends can be stressful around the holidays. Instead of buying expensive gifts this year my friends and I wanted to make gift giving a little more personal and fun so we decided to do a white elephant gift and go to brunch. I have compiled a few of my favorite gifts ranging from $4.00-$145.00 to make gift giving a little easier this season.

Around the holidays there is an abundance of events and gatherings (I attended four last Saturday). Most of the parties that I have attended have been hosted at someone’s home. I love the idea of having a get together at a house around the holidays. It feels much more personal and easier to stay warm and cozy in the colder weather. I noticed that my wardrobe didn’t allow for these stay at home holiday events. My closet either consisted of party dresses or very casual running errand outfits. I have compiled a collage of my recent wardrobe updates for those in-between events. You can shop the Rebecca Minkoff bag at a discounted price here.

November has flown by and we are quickly approaching holiday season. This weekend is going to full and busy, and that’s exactly how I like it. I’ll be attending a baby shower, a birthday, and “Get in the Christmas Spirit” party. I can’t wait to watch old movies and stay in with friends if the weather continues to be rainy. Now I’m off to my first sample sale of the day! You’ll be able to shop my designer fashion finds later this weekend (click on the shop it tab).

Style Icon: Blair Waldorf

I’ve had a love affair with television show Gossip Girl since the first season. Sometimes the storyline is stagnant, but I tune in every week for two reasons 1. Chuck and Blair 2. The fashion! I love Blair’s style. Her style is so polished and poised, leaving her hair in loose waves, and wearing her makeup light and subtle. On Monday night the show returned for their last season, and I was not let down by the fashion. Blair’s polka dot blouse paired with a bright skirt was amazing! There are a variety of ways you can wear this top, with a bright skirt like Blair, black pants and a bright blazer, or with colored jeans like oxblood or green.

Rag & Bone Coming to Los Angeles

Last night I found myself feeling a bit restless. I decided to go for a stroll around the neighborhood and make a stop at Urth Caffe for some dessert. Turning onto Melrose I passed a building that seemed to have been under construction (on and off) for over a year. To my surprise the scaffold was gone and new signage was placed on the building “Rag & Bone”! The Melrose location will be their first store in California. Rag & Bone takes classic pieces and puts an edgy twist to make clothing different and unique, but still wearable. No official open date has been set, but I’m sure the store will be amazing.20121003-085537.jpg

This week has flown by! On Tuesday I had an early dinner with my cousin at Lemonade. I love that restaurant. There are so many salads to choose from, and of course a few unhealthy options as well. Their french macaroons are amazing. With the weather being so beautiful we decided to head to the beach for a few drinks. Later this week I attended a book signing for Cupcakes and Cashmere. It was nice to meet Emily Schuman and get a little inspiration from her book.

Happy Friday! I can’t wait for the weekend to start. Tonight I’ll be driving out to see my family to celebrate my aunt’s birthday then my dad’s on Sunday. I’m excited for Autumn to begin so I can wear my warmer clothes. I love being able to wear heavier material and layer with coats, jackets, and scarves.

Blast from the Past with a Comedic Fashionista

The first show I ever remember watching as a kid is I Love Lucy. My grandma and I would sit together and watch Lucy get herself in and out of trouble everyday for one hour. This is one of my favorite memories growing up. I Love Lucy is a show I still watch, and continue to laugh even though I’ve seen every episode at least five times. Looking back, I didn’t realize what a fashionista Lucille Ball was! I may have been distracted by her schemes, plots, and funny mannerism. I have pulled together my favorite Lucille Ball looks that seem to be making their way back onto the runway.

New York fashion week has come to an end. I enjoyed watching most of the shows, however my favorite presentations were 3.1 Phillip Lim and Proenza Schouler! During fashion week most people love the fashion shows, but to me the best part of NYFW is the street style. I have become obsessed! Here are my five favorite street style looks from NYFW.
